Caswell Construction have recently completed the following contracts:
• Red Lion, Islington
The Caswell Group recently completed a £450,000 contract at The Red Lion, 41 Hoxton Street, London N1, on behalf of Takestyle Ltd. The work comprised a new build extension incorporating a new steel frame construction, new floors, roofs and windows and an entire internal refurbishment. Among the many additional features we installed was a hot tub on the roof!
The work was completed in December 2004, inside six months, and the building is now fully open and operational as a premier North London music venue.
• Hackney Quest Youth Centre, Hackney
2005 saw Caswell complete a comprehensive internal refurbishment project at a youth centre on Poole Road, London E9, to a £150,000 budget. The work was undertaken on behalf of the Hackney Quest children’s charity, which provides opportunities for young people who are underachieving or have poor attendance at school.
• New house building, Steeple Morden, Cambridgeshire
The Caswell Group has completed two new house builds to a total value of £300,000 at Steeple Morden, Cambridge.
• Thameside Theatre, Thurrock
One of the Caswell Group’s biggest recent projects has resulted from its securing of a contract with Thurrock Council to undertake phases 2, 3 and 4 of an extensive four-phase refurbishment project at the seven-storey Thameside Complex on Orsett Road, Thurrock, which includes a 323-seat theatre on the third floor. The total value of the contract was £1.85million.
The work involved stripping out the premises, refurbishing the main reception area (£350,000), an extra strip-out and refurbishment of the adjacent council-owned library, and a strip out and refurbishment of the registrar’s office (£500,000).
• Conversion of former church building, 45 Kenton Road, Hackney
The Caswell Group’s portfolio includes the conversion of former church buildings at 45 Kenton Road, London E9, into five discrete dwellings – a house and four flats – at a contract value of £500,000. The client was the Hackney-based St. John, Hackney, Joint Estates Charity, whose presence in the local area dates back to 1898.
Acting on behalf of the same client, the company has also completed a £860,000 refurbishment of six flats, including the installation of a new floor.
• Ministry of Defence establishment, Abingdon
Following the Caswell Group’s extensive work for government ministries and agencies, the company has undertaken the stripping out an refurbishment of 26 kitchens at a Ministry of Defence installation in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, to a total contract value of £130,000.
