Amersham plc

Amersham plc is a public company specialising in the development, manufacture and supply of radioisotopes and technology for use in medicine, biotechnology, drug discovery and other applications. Its four nuclear licensed sites include the Grove Centre at Little Chalfont, Buckinghamshire, a 30-building complex which has been working with radioactive materials since the 1940s and contains some redundant radioactively contaminated plant.

Amersham has an ongoing programme to decontaminate existing plant for re-use in further production. Caswell Environmental Service Ltd has been a term contractor for the Amersham plc for 4 years, undertaking all asbestos abatement and removal works at the Grove Centre. Around 50% of the project has involved working in radioactive controlled areas, with all operatives requiring gamma-tagging and monitoring.
