Primark, Boscombe

Caswell Environmental Services Ltd has played an important part in facilitating the expansion of retail store Primark, which since the late 1990s has been acquiring and refurbishing premises in many of Britain's key retail localities. To date, the company has been involved in refurbishment projects at Primark stores in Newport, Sunderland, Hemel Hempstead and Birmingham.

Caswell acted as Principal Contractor, working under CDM regulations, for an asbestos removal and decontamination project at Primark's Boscombe store, which had formerly been owned and occupied by Marks and Spencer plc. The project involved soft stripping the 3-storey building and removal back to shell, as well as fire protection reinstatement work to its lift shafts and electrical, mechanical and air conditioning services. Originally scheduled to last 5 weeks, the programme of works was brought in a full week early to the full approval and satisfaction of the client.
