NEW RULES RELATING TO HAZARDOUS WASTE
21st June 2005
Further to a change in regulations by the Environment Agency, we would like to make you aware of the new requirements (HWR Regulation 21) coming into force on 16 th July 2005, regarding the production of hazardous waste from individual premises.
As from 16 th July 2005, all premises producing hazardous waste and or contracting others to remove hazardous waste from site must register with the Environment Agency in order to acquire a unique registration number to be commonly known as a ‘Premises Code’.
The aforementioned premises code can be obtained from the Environment Agency’s web site for an annual fixed fee. (click here to read the literature from the Environment Agency).
The above premises code must be acquired prior to the commencement of any asbestos removal works in order to enable CES Ltd to transport any generated hazardous waste from site, to the respective waste transfer station or landfill site.
CES Ltd offer a premises code registration service for a fixed fee of £48.00 + VAT should you/your client have over looked this item. In order to register on behalf of the client we shall require the respective Companies ‘Standard Industrial Classification Code’ (SIC Code 2003).
So in summary, without registration of the respective premises to the Environment Agency (relating to movement/generation of hazardous waste) and acquisition of the new ‘Premises Code’, CES Ltd and others providing a similar service, will not be able to remove any hazardous waste from you/your clients site.
To avoid delay to you/your client’s project, make sure the new regulations are provided for prior to commencement of works.
Should you require any further information on the above, please contact
